I always have this admiration of sculptures. The marble ones. Cold, soft, arrogant, elegant. And the silence is just intimidating

The woods are never solitary—they are full of whispering, beckoning, friendly life. But the sea is a mighty soul, forever moaning of some great, unshareable sorrow, which shuts it up into itself for all eternity.

Consider that you can see less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum and hear less than 1% of the acoustic spectrum. As you read this, you are traveling at 220 km/sec across the galaxy. 90% of the cells in your body carry their own microbial DNA and are not ‘you’. The atoms in your body are 99.9999999999999999% empty space and none of them are the ones you were born with, but they all originated in the belly of a star. Human beings have 46 chromosomes, 2 less than the common potato.

The existence of the rainbow depends on the conical photoreceptors in your eyes; to animals without cones, the rainbow does not exist. So you don’t just look at a rainbow, you create it. This is pretty amazing, especially considering that all the beautiful colors you see represent less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum.

He sends down from the sky, rain, and valleys flow according to their capacity, and the torrent carries a rising foam. And from that [ore] which they heat in the fire, desiring adornments and utensils, is a foam like it. Thus Allah presents [the example of] truth and falsehood. As for the foam, it vanishes, [being] cast off; but as for that which benefits the people, it remains on the earth. Thus does Allah present examples.

such a lovely major histocompatibility complex

randomly found this article about the fictitious first meeting of ENFP and INTJ :

“Do you believe in love at first sight?”

The INTJ turns to you and declares confidently, “Love at first sight is simply a pheromonal response.  The people involved smell a scent-marked difference between each other’s DNA—the major histocompatibility complex, which is a part of the coding for the immune system—and are driven to mate with the goal of producing offspring having the most diverse immune response possible.”

You grin at him.  “You have a lovely major histocompatibility complex.”

man, why universe suspiciously conspires to remind me about the upcoming hematoimmunology exam :”D

  1. Newtonian gravity is your high school girlfriend. As your first encounter with physics, she’s amazing. You will never forget Newtonian gravity, even if you’re not in touch very much anymore.
  2. Electrodynamics is your college girlfriend. Pretty complex, you probably won’t date long enough to…

  • It's when Einstein proposed that light is not a continuous wave but rather comes in quanta of energy called photons; Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg and Erwin Schrodinger, devised a mathematical description of the quantum world in which certainties were replaced by probabilities, Einstein protested that the world could not really be so fuzzy.

artificial tools offer artificial quality as well

i notice that people begin to experience this virtual age, when you chat and socialize through this network of optical fibers. you get much amused of shapes and colors flashing on your screens. you find this loud solitude and joy of expressing things on tools you can always control. tools that will never get bored of you, betray you, make much conflict, or else. maybe a maintenance, upgrading, or reparation once or twice a year, but not quite a big deal, considering all the elusive fidelity they offer to you.

somehow i find this, intriguingly, hurtful. and i get this vision of gray people passing each other, with brim light illuminating from their daily gadgets. most of the real life gets shut down, replaced by the virtual one. now you can even have a programmed robot in your house that you can talk to about your problem, and it will listen to you forever (as long as you have enough energy supply of course) and give you a sort of programmed advice.

cool, no? we actually understand scientifically enough that those are just tools to help us in daily life, that they’re not really live like we do, and else. but since they seem so real, sound so real, most people perceive them as real things. and when it comes to more spiritual aspects, you find people complaining their daily happenings in those artificial tools, people search for happiness and help, and hope, in tools they create themselves.

now that religion has preached us a lot of things, and illuminate us from the dark age, it’s surprising to see that this condition resembles the pagan age, animism, and else.

but it really is just my point of view, and i write all this merely because i perceive artificial tools as things to make our life easier, in means of access to information, etc.

As I’ve been alluding to, my one saving grace is distraction. It keeps me sane. It helps me cope, considering the
length of time I’ve been performing this job. The trouble is, who could ever replace me? Who could step in
while I take a break in your stock-standard resort-style vacation destination, whether it be tropical or of the ski
trip variety? The answer, of course, is nobody, which has prompted me to make a conscious, deliberate decision
—to make distraction my vacation. Needless to say, I vacation in increments. In colors
